Step 1. Install XMod by DNNdev.com

Note: For security, you must be logged into your DotNetNuke portal as the Host account to perform these operations.

Business Directory is built to be used with the popular DotNetNuke module, XMod and requires XMod pre-purchase and installation. XMod installs as a conventional DNN module and full documentation is included with your XMod purchase. XMod Online help is available here.

All DNN Professor applications are compatible with XMod versions 5.1 and XMod 5.5.

If you have not already installed XMod on your portal, follow the installation instructions found here.

If you will be using the free XMod Detail View for XMod 5.0 - PA that allows you to have your listing details show on a unique DotNetNuke page, you will also want to install the XMod Detail View for XMod 5.0 - PA at this time. (See bottom of page for more details)
 

After installing XMod add an instance of XMod onto a new DNN portal page.

You will see a message that looks like this:

Next Go To XMod Module Edit Menu >> Administration

Note: Before Saving changes, is you are using XMod 5.1, make sure that you have clicked the FormView Module Install/Update Module button.

This will install the XMod FormView module that you will need to configure the Business Directory Inquiry Form. The installation of the Inquiry Form is explained on the Configuring Forms tab.

Note: If you are using XMod 5.5+ the FormView module now easily installs as a separate DNN module.

Step 2. Install Fatgeorge FileUpload Control

Business Directory is built to be used with the popular XMod add-on, FatGeorge File Upload Control and requires FatGeorge FileUpload Control pre-purchase and installation. We have opted to use this control because it is the best file management control available and, once purchased, can be used with all DNN Professor applications and any XMod applications that you may build yourself. Full documentation is included with your FatGeorge purchase.

Return To XMod Module Edit Menu >> Administration and install FatGeorge FileUpload Control by browsing your local computer and adding the FatGeorge installation zip file. The current version is 3.5.3+. If you have purchased the 3.2 version on snowcovered.com, the newest version will be available in the snowcovered patches and hot fix section or you can contact FatGeorge at http://fatgeorge.co.uk/.

 

Step 3. Install Business Directory

If you have not already extracted the purchased BD6.1.2-UnZipMe.zip file to your local computer, do so now. Locate the BD6.1Package1.0.zip file inside the extracted installation folder.

Log into your DotNetNuke site using the Host account credentials.

Return To the page where you installed your XMod instance. Go to the XMod Module Edit Menu >> Administration and install Business Director by browsing your local computer and adding the Business Directory installation zip file BD6.1Package1.0.zip.

All images and files associated with Business Directory will be installed in the following location:

(Your Home directory)/xmod/packages/BusinessDirectory and will be fully accessible from the DotNetNuke File Manager (Admin >> File Manager).

The installation also creates several XMod forms and templates that allow you to choose which type of form configuration is suitable for your needs.

Note: With Business Directory 6.1 we have simplified the forms. There are now only three main forms that all have parameter option settings to show, or not show, video options.

Forms

DNNP-BD6.1 Single Category Form - This is the data-entry form for Business Directory with a single listing category selection and upload video options for video from local disk, Amazon S3, and YouTube.

DNNP-BD6.1 Multiple Categories Form - This is the data-entry form for Business Directory with multiple listing category selection and upload video options for video from local disk, Amazon S3, and YouTube.

DNNP-BD6.1 Sub Categories Form - This is the data-entry form for Business Directory with category and sub-category selection and upload video options for video from local disk, Amazon S3, and YouTube.

DNNP-BD6.1 Inquiry Form - This is the form used to send a listing inquiry.

DNNP-BD6.1 Inquiry Form 2 - This is the form used to send a listing inquiry and designed to be used when you are placing your detail template on a separate DNN portal page.

DNNP-BD6.1 Sharing Form - This is a newly introduced data-entry form for Business Directory that allows visitors to Tell-A-Friend about a company listing. It is designed to be used when you are placing your detail template on a separate DNN portal page.

DNNP-BD6.1 Advanced Search Form - This is a newly introduced data-entry form for Business Directory that is SQL database driven and allows your visitor to complete drill-down search to locate existing Business Directory listings.

Templates

DNNP-BD6.1 List View - This is the list view template for Business Directory when configuring XMod to show details inline.

DNNP-BD6.1 List View 2 - This is a newly introduced list view template for Business Directory. It is designed to be used when you are placing your detail template on a separate DNN portal page.

DNNP-BD6.1 Tabbed Detail View - This is the detail view template for Business Directory when configuring XMod to show details inline and is designed to be used with DNNP-BD6.1 List View.

DNNP-BD6.1 Tabbed Detail View 2 - This is the detail view template for Business Directory.  It is designed to be used with DNNP-BD6.1 List View 2 when you are placing your detail template on a separate DNN portal page.

DNNP-BD6.1 List View Featured Grid - This is a newly introduced list view template for Business Directory. It is a bonus template that allows you to show a subset of featured listings.

DNNP-BD6.1 List View Featured Grid 2 - his is a newly introduced list view template for Business Directory. It is a bonus template that allows you to show a subset of featured listings. It is designed to be used when you are placing your detail template on a separate DNN portal page.

Step 4. Uploading Rating Images

Within the extracted Install Folder is a folder named Rating Images. You will find two images named dnnp-emptyStar.png () and dnnp-fullStar.png (). These two images produce the viewable rating section on a listing detail page.

Simply upload these two images to your Portal Root folder located at Admin Tab >> File Manager

Step 5. Optional - Uploading XMod Detail View for XMod 5.0 - PA

With Business Directory we have also added the ability to now have your detail template appear on a separate DotNetNuke portal page. This will add powerful functionality by allowing you to add additional modules to the detail page. To utilize this option you will need to download the free XMod Detail View for XMod 5.0 – PA from http://dnndev.com/Other/Projects/tabid/319/Default.aspx to your local computer and install it as a conventional DNN module.

Note: XMod Detail View for XMod 5.0 – PA is required if you decide to use the DNNP-BD6.1 Tabbed Detail View 2  template and the DNNP-BD6.1 Sharing Form.

Login in to your DotNetNuke site using the Host account credentials
